Life Fitness Platinum Club Series Treadmill – Product Review

The Platinum Club Series Treadmill from Life Fitness is a high-end treadmill for home use, which I’ve been using for the past few weeks. Today we’re reviewing it’s performance and seeing how it’s faired.

A 60″ track with an inclination, a 4.0 HP motor, and tonnes of technology are among the highlights, including a Bluetooth connection and 21.5-inch touchscreen. These are all nice quality-of-life additions, which already place it ahead of the treadmills at my local gym.

As the Platinum Club Series is designed for intensive commercial use, it will handle users of any size or ability, without too many concerns about wear-and-tear.

When it comes to running surfaces, bigger is better because it allows you to move around more freely. The deck was constructed using Life Fitness‘ Flex Deck shock absorption system to alleviate joint strain, and comes in at an impressive 60 x 22 inches.

Although many good treadmills have some form of shock absorption, if you’ve ever used one of these commercial machines, you know that Life Fitness has perfected this aspect and is not to be outdone.

An important factor to consider while looking for a quality treadmill is the motor. In most circumstances, stronger is better. This not only makes for a more enjoyable workout for you, but it also extends the life of the motor.

A DC motor is found in the majority of high-quality home treadmills. Most individuals can run easily with this amount of power without having to worry about the engine keeping up, however an AC motor is included in the Platinum Club Series.

AC motors, (like the one in this treadmill) on the whole, are more durable and can run for longer periods of time without overheating or breaking down. Again, a nice addition.

Getting started

One area of struggle was assembley. It did take a significant amount of time to put the Platinum Club Series Treadmill together, however once complete, every piece felt secure and rooted, allowing me to enjoy my workout fully.

In retrospect I should have paid the additional £200 or so for white glove delivery, which would have included assembly and installation. I did try to contact customer service during this time, but was only forwarded to an email portal, which was disappointing – it would have been great to speak to someone who could have helped live.

The treadmill is also very quiet, which is a huge plus for me. I sometimes have to be careful about the noise level when my infant grandchildren are visitng. The Platinum Club Series Treadmill is so quiet that I can watch TV while running on it, without concern, which is a great way to pass the time.

The only negative thing I can say about the treadmill’s functionality is that there are some minor issues with the console – it can be hard to read in some light conditions.

All-in-all, the Platinum Club Series is a fantastic addition to my home gym, and I’m looking forward to using it in the coming months.

**Update 17/11/21

Have continued to use the Platinum Club Series treadmill, on 3 or more workouts in the past week. It really shines in most respects. The entertaiment functions are all easy to use and responsive, and the feel of the platform is strong. Had a good laugh maxing out the elevations at 15 degrees.

**Update 19/11/21

The Platinum Club Series took a few extra minutes to power-on today. I hope this does not become a regular feature.

**Update 29/11/21

The treadmill continues to be a joy to use, no further issues, and thoroughly enjoying it.
